Biography

I grew up in Dalton, so teaching at Dalton State is a dream come true.  Shortly after graduating Dalton High, I joined the Navy as part of their nuclear power program.  Afterwards I graduated from Berry College with a degree in Mathematics and went to graduate school at University of Alabama in Huntsville.  After school, I started out as an actuary with Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company in Chattanooga.  Thirteen years later I decided on a career change.  When an opening occurred at DSC, I jumped at the chance.  Since I was fairly competent with programming, I was asked to help out with the Computer Science classes along with the math classes.  I obtained a Masters in Computer Science through Columbus State’s online degree program.  I love math and computer science and I am happy to share my enthusiasm and knowledge with anyone willing to learn.

Achievements

I love working with logic puzzles and games.  We often develop simple games (blackjack, craps, etc) in our programming class and gradually enhance them to more user friendly formats as the course progresses.  Probability models is another topic of interest to look for weather predications and even stock market patterns
